Six
Chippendale Design Elbow Chairs
A stunning
and very rare set of six 19th century Chippendale design elbow
chairs in solid mahogany. All the chairs are
numbered which indicates they were once part of a very much
larger set. It is rare to find a set of chairs which
all have elbows.
The chairs
are very stylish and impressive and would compliment a
grand dining room. They are large, well proportioned
and very comfortable.
The
carving is particularly fine with well carved back
splats in figured mahogany. The arms are foliate
carved, with gadrooning to the front seat rail and
cabriole legs with ball and claw feet.
The drop
in seats are traditionally upholstered (using horse
hair not foam) in an attractive woven damask by The
Gainsborough Silk Weaving Company.
It is rare
to find such a superb set of chairs in good original
condition with a rich colour.
