This is a stylish
Georgian elbow chair
which would be ideal
for a smart drawing
room or sitting
room.The elbow
design would of
course make it a
very comfortable
chair in which to
sit and work at a
desk.
The chair is a
typical example of
elegant and
understated
Georgian design in
superb quality solid
Cuban mahogany. The
rectangular back
consists of three
vertical splats,
each with a central
carved patera,
bounded by outswept
arms with paper
scroll carving to
the ends and a stuff
over seat on square
tapering legs.
The stuff over seat
has been
traditionally
upholstered (using
horsehair not foam,
webbing etc) and
covered in an
expensive strie
design fabric by
Colefax and Fowler
in shades of cream
and
sand, complimented
by an
attractive braid from
the Wemyss Houles
company in France.
Overall, this is a
good Georgian chair
that would be an
elegant addition to
any home.
