This is an attractive Late Victorian elbow chair in solid mahogany, in the Sheraton Revival style. The high back consists of a crest rail topped with scroll carved detail over slender fluted back splats supported by an arched lower rail.
The elegant curved and tapering elbows are reeded, as are the slender turned and reeded forelegs. The stuff-over seat has been traditionally re-upholstered in horsehair and webbing and covered in a good quality neutral trellis fabric.
This attractive and comfortable elbow chair would make an ideal side chair in a sitting room. The elbows would of course make it a very comfortable chair to sit and work at a desk or dressing table.
Although this chair is over a hundred years old, it has obviously been well looked after in its lifetime, as it is in very good condition, with a rich glowing colour and patina.
